Job Summary

This position provides leadership to the Italian sales team including the agents to ensure that business needs with respect to sales, ongoing business functions are met or exceeded. This position is noted as a critical partner to drive growth of the business.  The role includes developing and implementing the sales and marketing strategy through the direct sales organization and agents in Italy.

Key Duties

  • Together with the Director of Sales and Marketing (DSM), develop and implement sales and marketing strategy and technical plans for the Meridian Bioscience product range in the Territory.  This involves positioning, market channels, pricing/promotions, new products launch, sales support of current portfolio and field activities.
  • Together with the DSM, analyze the market situation and sales data on a regular basis to identify trends within product groups, analyze individual sales performance and proposed activities to remedy deviations.
  • Establish and maintain updated information of the marketplace, customer insights and detailed knowledge of competitor products, competitors marketing activities and prices, and introduction of competing products in the territory to represent Meridian Bioscience products more effectively.
  • Deliver a high level of support and personal service to the teams by developing and maintaining excellent business relationships with customers to ensure that Meridian Bioscience is represented appropriately and effectively.  
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team to create timed and measured promotions (mail-shots, e-mailers) and other product support literature to increase sales and awareness of Meridian Bioscience in the various sales territories. 
  • Represent the Territory on cross-functional company business project teams to include custom products, new product launches, product development, product care and also any other teams where appropriate and agreed in conjunction with the DSM.
  • Initiates, directs, and oversees in collaboration with other company Directors and Managers to execute on delivery of Italian sales goals and achieving operational goals.
  • Daily interaction with office team to ensure that strategic decisions are aligned with growth plans.
  • Communicates with the office team through clear and quantifiable goals to ensure achievement of overall Meridian goals.
  • Communicates with other departments to facilitate a clear understanding of the customer’s needs

 

Qualifications

  • Must be highly technical and understand fully the requirements to succeed in Medical Device and Biotechnology industry.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Science or Business.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the healthcare sector with proven leadership success.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Sales Representative in the In Vitro Diagnostics field and with proven knowledge and understanding of Medical Diagnostic Techniques
  • Must have at least 2-3yrs. management experience with scientific based experience
  • Excellent and demonstrable command of written and spoken Italian and English. Proficient at communicating verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to work in an International team, collaborate with internal and external partners and communicate with people from different cultures
  • Strong leadership ability and experience working with multiple business units or internal clients
  • Ability to react quickly, work collaboratively and solve complex problems.
  • Must have an excellent command of the English language.
